Chocolate bread – loved by friends and family. One of a few Christmas sweets favorites. Very easy to make and super delicious. Who doesn’t like simple recipes? 😀 It comes originally from my lovely German friend from Munich Germany, who I haven’t seen since I moved to Australia. Today, I am sharing it with you and hope that you like it as much as I do!
Chocolate Bread
Pre-hit the oven to 170°C – upper and lower heat setting.
Combine:
- 250g warm butter – room temperature
- 200g raw sugar
- 6 eggs
- 250g almond meal (with or without skin) – freshly ground is best!
- 100g whole meal
Add to the mixture and combine:
- 250g choc sprinkles (Coles sells them)
Brush a flat tray with warm butter and sprinkle generously with almond meal. Distribute the dough and bake for about 20-30 minutes until ready. Check with a wooden toothpick if you are not sure if it’s ready. If the dough sticks to it, wait for another 5-10 minutes.
Leave the tray on a kitchen bench to cool.
Melt 250g dark chocolate + 6 tbsp water in a pot which is submerged in a larger pot with water. Stir in between until smooth, and glossy. Add a little bit more water if needed. Distribute it over the chocolate bread. Leave until cool, cut into cubes, and store in a box with baking paper in between the layers to prevent sticking.
Enjoy!
