Chocolate bread – loved by friends and family. One of a few Christmas sweets favorites. Very easy to make and super delicious. Who doesn’t like simple recipes? 😀 It comes originally from my lovely German friend from Munich Germany, who I haven’t seen since I moved to Australia. Today, I am sharing it with you and hope that you like it as much as I do!

Chocolate Bread

Pre-hit the oven to 170°C  – upper and lower heat setting.

Combine:

  • 250g warm butter – room temperature
  • 200g raw sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 250g almond meal (with or without skin) – fresh ground is best!
  • 100g whole meal

Add to the mixture and combine:

  • 250g choc sprinkles (Coles sells them)

Brush a flat tray with some warm butter and sprinkle generously with almond meal. Distribute the dough and bake for about 20-30 minutes until ready. Make a wooden tooth pick taste if you are not sure when its ready. If the dough sticks to it, wait for another 5-10 minutes.

Leave the tray on a kitchen bench to cool.

Melt 250g dark chocolate + 6 tbsp water in a pot which is submerged in a larger pot with water. Stir in between until smooth, glossy. Add little bit more water if needed. Distribute over the chocolate bread. Leave until cool, cut in cubes and store in a box with baking paper in between the layers to prevent sticking.

Enjoy!
