Crumbly, delicious, easy to make, and perfect for any occasion. These cookies are super simple and made with only three ingredients. Perfect for beginners.
Lard & Cream Cookies with Jam – Simple and Tasty
Ingredients:
- 200 g lard
- 500 g wholemeal or plain flour
- 300 ml cream
Also some jam or other jam (preferably homemade), and pure icing sugar.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C top and bottom heat.
- Cut the lard into small pieces and combine with the other ingredients. Knead into a smooth dough.
- Roll out into about 3-5 mm thickness. Cut into squares (mine are 6 x 6 cm). Use a sharp knife or a rolling pin. Put jam on each square. Stick the opposite corners together.
- Place on a baking tray lined with baking paper and bake for about 25-30 minutes at 180 degrees.
- Let the cookies cool. Sprinkle generously with powdered sugar, or leave as mine do, without sugar. Enjoy!
Tips:
- This recipe makes about 60 cookies—enough for two baking trays that I bake one at a time.
- Make a simple icing by combining pure icing sugar with lime or lemon juice to sprinkle on top of the already cold cookies. Yummo!!
